Games will be 7v7, 25-minute games. Generally, there will be no extra time for minor game delays but the referee may extend time due to a serious injury.
If a game is tied after regulation, there will be no added time or penalty kicks. The tie will stand.
Depending on entries, the tournament will be split into divisions. Division winners will win $100 for a keg of beer or a bar tab.
A win earns a team 3 points, 1 point for a tie, 0 for a loss. A shutout gets 1 point and goals scored count as 1 point each (up to 3). Tiebreakers are (in order): head to head, goal differential, most goals scored, least goals allowed, beer pong, best-looking team, coin toss.
All teams will get at least four games.
7 v 7 with a minimum of 5 players at all times
Kick-offs: Ball can go in any direction
Goal Kicks: Ball must leave the penalty area box before it can be played
Penalty Kicks: taken from twelve yards out
Sliding: Open field slides are permitted—even if a defender is sliding in the open to prevent a ball from going into the goal; Slide Tackles against an opponent are not permitted.
Goal Keeper may not punt or drop-kick the ball; restart is an indirect free kick for opposing team at mid-field
Cautions: Player is cautioned but does not need to sit out
Ejections: Player is ejected by a straight red or two cautions in the same match. She must leave area and cannot play for the remainder of the tournament.
Substitutions: Rolling at any stoppage and do not require the referee’s permission
Offside: No offside enforcement
Duration of Game: 25 minutes
This is a women's tournament but men are encouraged to come cheer us on
All players must be registered with WAWSL or another affiliated league (such as CCSL, NVASA, NVWSL) for the seasonal year that runs from September, 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017. Players can have played for any affiliated team during the last year so feel free to poach extra players from your fellow teams.
Unaffiliated players can be registered until the roster deadline of July 24, 2017. Unaffiliated players must register as guests via the MDCVSA website (cost is $25 but that fee will count towards the players registration should she play for WAWSL in fall 2017).
All players must bring a government issued photo ID.
Teams may have up to 15 players on their roster. Teams may field players from other WAWSL teams, but cannot use players that are on another tournament team's roster.
Players must bring ID to each of their games to be checked prior to each game.
Final rosters are due by July 24, 2017. Download the roster form here and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading "Hoy Cup Roster."
If a player gets a red card she is ejected from the tournament and may not play again that day. A player issued one yellow card DOES NOT have to sit out any of the game. A player issued two yellow cards in one game is ejected from the tournament and may not play again that day.
A one referee system will be used.

The tournament is open to all affiliated teams however teams will be registered on a first-come first-serve basis.
