Women's Soccer in D.C. since 1982

The Polo Fields are located in West Potomac Park, bordered by Independence Ave SW, Ohio Dr SW, and W Basin Dr SW.

By Metro:  Closest metros are Smithsonian or Foggy Bottom (a 20 minute walk in either case).  Faragut North (red line) or Faragut West are a 25 minute walk.  Biking to the field is also enjoyable and recommended.

By Bus: It’s also possible to take metrobus to get within walking distance of the field.  Use www.wmata.com to plan your trip.  The closest bus stops are at 1700 Constitution Ave NW or 1400 Independence Ave SW.

Driving and Parking Directions

Parking: Parking is scarce after 10am. If you have to drive, your best bet for parking is alongside Ohio Dr or West Basin Dr.  These areas are marked on the map below.  Leave lots of time to look for a spot.

From NW DC: Take the Rock Creek Parkway south. After the Kennedy Center, stay in the left lane. Veer right at the sign for FDR memorial parking. Alternatively, go south on 14th Street, and take a right onto Independence Avenue. Stay straight until you see signs for FDR parking. Go left at the light (following signs for FDR). Park.

From Virginia: Go across the 14th Street bridge (Route 1 off of 395). After crossing Independence (no left turn, alas), go left on Madison Drive, towards the Washington Monument. Take another left at the monument and then a right onto Independence. You will pass the fields on your left. Take a left onto Ohio Drive (FDR Memorial parking) and look for parking.

From I-66: Take the Independence Avenue exit after you cross the bridge into DC. Go right on Ohio Drive and park.

The first teams to play at this field must unlock the portable goals. They will be laying flat on the ground locked to one of the fences lining the field. Do not confuse them with the non-portable goals locked up with a key lock.  The nets will already be in place, but you will need stakes and velcro to secure them.

The last teams of the day must lock the goals up and take special care to thread the lock through the net, fence, and hooks on the top crossbar of the goals. The goals should not be disassembled; simply drag them intact to the fence and chain them up. These are borrowed goals and we must take care of them. They cost a lot of money to replace. Please make sure you lock them up carefully.
